Doctoral
Fellows
Tee
Up For Tots has funded 5 doctoral fellows since 2000.
Young, ambitious scientists apply for these positions
and are extensively interviewed by the highly regarded
and dedicated doctors at the Steele Children's
Research Center. Once selected, these fellows work under
the close supervision of Dr. Emmanuel Katsanis.
Family
Assistance
Tee
Up For Tots provides a "kit" to each newly
diagnosed cancer patient. These kits include a UMC cafeteria
pass, gas coupons, prepaid phone card, disposable camera, journal,
pen, travel mug, t-shirt and various other items that
are donated throughout the year. We also have volunteers
who go to the hospital twice a month to work on art
projects with the patients and their siblings. Each
child is given a birthday present on their very special
day! Additionally, we provide patients and their families
with special treats such as gift certificates for dinner,
movies and other entertainment.
Family
Hardship
Tee
Up For Tots provides immediate emergency funding for
families enduring financial hardship during their child's
treatment. We provide money for gas so that a parent
can transport their child to and from the hospital,
money for groceries, additional phone cards so families
can keep in touch, school books, special toy/game requests,
shoes, coats and a watch with an alarm to remind a teen
to take medication, just to name a few of the many requests
we receive. We have also been able to provide transportation
for family members to come and visit to boost the morale
of patients, and provide some respite for Mom and Dad.
If
available after funding the above, Tee Up For Tots also provides financial assistance and volunteers for the following:
- Hemotology, Oncology, Parent & Patient Program (HOPPs)
- Third Floor Clinic Upgrades Support
- The Ronald McDonald House Charity
